Botox®

A million people have been treated with BOTOX® Cosmetic since its FDA approval in 2002.

In fact, BOTOX® Cosmetic is the only FDA-approved treatment for the temporary reduction of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in patients 18 to 65 years of age. Isn´t it time you considered it too?

Proven. Simple. Effective.

Ten minutes—a few tiny injections—and within days there´s a noticeable improvement. There´s no recovery or downtime. You can even receive BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment on your lunch break. And results last up to four months. Individual results may vary.

Where does the BOTOX Cosmetic go?

It generally remains only in the treated muscle and gradually disappears without breaking down or traveling throughout the body.

How long does it last?

Results last about 4 months, after which lines gradually revert to their pretreatment appearance.

Will it radically change my appearance?

No. Expect a dramatic improvement in the appearance of your frown lines. In clinical trials, nearly 90% of the men and women surveyed rated the improvement in their brow lines as moderate to better. Overall, you`ll look more relaxed and refreshed but not like you’ve had work done.

Will it make me lose expression?

No. The only expression you`ll lose is the unintentional frown caused by the overactive muscles between your brows. So you can frown, smile, or look surprised-without the creases and wrinkles between your brows.

Can Botox help with underarm sweating?

Yes it can. See our Underarm Sweating section under Cosmetic Services for more information.

Sclerotherapy

Pregnancy, prolonged standing, and heredity are the primary causes of unsightly and often painful varicose and spider veins. As we age, more visible leg veins frequently emerge and our existing veins become increasingly noticeable. Spider veins most commonly show up on the legs but can also appear on the face. There is a simple solution to this problem, A sclerosing solution – and a cosmetic procedure called Sclerotherapy!

What is Sclerotherapy?

Sclerotherapy was developed over 75 years ago and at present is one of the most prevalent treatments for spider and varicose veins. During the treatment, a sclerosing agent is injected into the vein through a tiny needle. Treatment can last from 15 minutes to 45 minutes, depending on the number of veins treated in a particular session. Upon injection, the solution replaces the blood in the vein, generating irritation and corrosion to the walls of the vessel. The body then initiates the natural healing process and the vein begins to decompose, shrink and eventually disappear.

What results will I see?

Gradual improvement will be noticed. Many patients experience 60% to 80% of the treated vessels resolved. During the consultation, you will be advised as to the number of treatments necessary to achieve desired results.

What Is Laser Vein Treatment?

Laser therapy is a proven treatment for treating unsightly broken and dilated vessels as well as other unwanted vascular lesions, such as rosacea, port wine stains and other vascular birthmarks. In fact, the latest advances in laser technology have given us a method for removal that is safer, faster and more effective than any previous treatment.

How Does Laser Vein Treatment Work?

Lasers work by emitting a specialized light that is passed through the skin and preferentially absorbed by its target, be it an unwanted hair, birthmark, tattoo or in this case, the hemoglobin (the red portion of blood) in the unwanted vessels. The laser causes the vein to break up and disappear. There are several lasers available that work remarkably well in treating unwanted veins.

What Can I Expect With The Procedure?

Most people describe the treatment feeling like a rubber band snap. You may be given a topical anesthetic cream to numb the area to be treated. Any discomfort can be eased with the application of cool compresses. After treatment, you can immediately return to normal activities.

How Soon Will I See Results?

Because laser vein treatment works by causing the unwanted vein to break up and dissolve, resolution of the unwanted vein will take place over the course of several weeks.

What Is The Cause Of Spider Veins?

Spider veins can occur on any area of the body, but are most common on the legs and face. The exact cause of spider veins is not known, but it has been shown that there is a genetic component to spider veins. While spider veins can occur in both men and women, they are more common in females. It seems as if the hormones estrogen and progesterone play a role in the development of spider veins. Changes in body chemistry such as puberty, birth control pills, menopause, and hormone therapy can bring them on. Constrictive clothing, such as tight hosiery and girdles can also cause spider vein development. The spider veins that appear on the face can also be the result of too much sun exposure.

Will Insurance Cover This Procedure?

Laser vein treatments like other cosmetic procedures are not usually covered by your insurance company. If you have any questions, it is best to talk with your provider.

Underarm Sweating

Can BOTOX® treatment help?

BOTOX™ is FDA-approved for severe underarm sweating when topical agents don´t work. BOTOX™ treatment helps control this condition by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands. When the sweat glands don´t receive chemical signals, the severe sweating stops.

How effective is BOTOX™ treatment?

BOTOX™ treatment is very effective. One clinical study involved 322 patients with severe underarm sweating.

– 57 out of 104 BOTOX™ treated patients (55%) achieved an effective response–compared to only 6 out of 108 treated without BOTOX™ (6%).

– 84 out of 104 BOTOX™ treated patients (81%) achieved a greater than 50% reduction in sweating–compared to only 44 out of 108 treated without BOTOX™ (41%).

What is treatment with BOTOX™ like?

The procedure is relatively straightforward. A small volume of BOTOX™ solution is injected into the affected underarm area through a very fine needle. The needle is placed just under the skin, so you may experience some injection-related discomfort. You will receive multiple injections based on your doctor´s assessment of the area that needs to be treated.

What should I expect after I have received BOTOX™ treatment?

You should notice a significant reduction in underarm sweating within four weeks of your first treatment. There is a possibility that some sweat glands may be missed, and you may continue to experience some sweating from the untreated areas. If you do not see a significant reduction in sweating, you should contact your healthcare provider and request a follow-up consultation.

How long does the BOTOX™ treatment last?

In a recent clinical study, the median duration of response in BOTOX™ patients was 201 days or 6.7 months (i.e., half of the patients had a treatment duration of at least 201 days or 6.7 months). It is not a cure; your symptoms will return gradually, and you will know when the time is right for another treatment. Your healthcare provider will recommend a treatment strategy to ensure that you receive the best possible results with BOTOX™ treatment.
